Flentje, Joyce Belle, Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away Friday, September 30, 2011 after a short illness. Age 79 years. The daughter of the late George and Alah (Chinery) Reid, Joyce was born April 22, 1932 in Saginaw, Michigan. She was married to Donald L. Flentje, her loving husband of 61 years, on August 1, 1950. He survives her. Joyce was a member of First Baptist Church of Saginaw, a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and very active in the church. She was an excellent seamstress, loved birds, genealogy, playing cards and spending time at the cottage. Surviving besides her husband Donald are one son, one daughter and their spouses, Donald R. and Kathleen Flentje, Bridgeport; Cynthia and Walter (Butch) Gorney, Hemlock; four grandchildren, Jonathan and Anna Flentje, Meghann and Thomas Gorney; several nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by three sisters, Thelma Webber, Hazel Alter and Dorothy Flentje. Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Saginaw, 1926 Fairfield St., Saginaw, Michigan. Rev. Tucker Gunneman will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road, (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday at the First Baptist Church of Saginaw from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
