Filiczkowski, Wincenty “Joe”, Birch Run, Michigan

Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at the Cartwright Hospice Residence. Age 79 years. Son of the late Marian and Emilia (Morawska) Filiczkowski, Wincenty was born March 20, 1931 in Kostopol, Poland coming to the United States in 1949. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Joe married Evelyn Reinert on November 25, 1955. She predeceased him January 19, 1966. He then married Janet M. Wendzik on November 9, 1968. She survives him. Joe was employed at Saginaw Steering Gear for 37 years retiring in 1993. He was a member of Assumption BVM Catholic Church. He was an assistant scout leader of Troop #205, Order of the Arrow, Society of George, a wood badge trainer and a Silver Beaver. Surviving besides his wife Janet are three daughters and two sons, Connie Filiczkowski, Saginaw; Laurie Allisot, Maine; John Filiczkowski, Iowa; Paul and Phyllis Filiczkowski, Bay City; Ann and Tom Carpenter, Traverse City; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Darlene Filiczkowski; brothers-in-law, Darrel Hawley, Frank and Barbara Wendzik; several nieces and nephews. Joe was preceded in death by his sister Jadwig Hawley and a brother Thaddeus Filiczkowski. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 24, 2011 at Assumption BVM Catholic Church in Bridgeport. Rev. Fr. John S. Sarge will officiate with burial in Assumption BVM Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road, (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass.
