Esmer, Elda M., Freeland, Michigan

Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend passed away Monday, July 4, 2011 at Stone Crest Assisted Living, Freeland, MI, age 88 years. The daughter of the late William F. and Anna (Fischer) Feuerhelm, Elda was born November 14, 1922 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Herbert H. Baldauf on July 20, 1943. He predeceased her on September 17, 1944. She married Melvin W. Rohn on December 9, 1946. She and Melvin had three children. He predeceased her July 8, 1967. She then married Michael A. Esmer on May 9, 1980. He predeceased her June 26, 1986. Elda was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Hemlock. She was also a life member of the Hemlock-Merrill V.F.W. Post No. 7302 Auxiliary. Elda was employed at Midland Hospital for 17 years, retiring as head cook. Elda enjoyed cooking, baking, playing euchre and tending to her flowers. In her neighborhood, she was known as the flower lady. Surviving are one daughter, Sandra (Rohn) Pesce, Saginaw; one son, Dale Rohn, St. Joseph; one daughter-in-law, Mary (Gordon) Rohn, Midland; a special friend, Beatrice Bissonnette, Clinton Township; four grandchildren, Daniel (Chris) Pesce, Dale Rohn, Adam (Thia) Rohn and Jeff Rohn; one great-grandchild, Jordon Pesce; one sister, Dorthea Greenwood, Freeland; several nieces and nephews and special people, Mary Martens and Brad Hunt. Elda was preceded in death by a son, Gordon W. Rohn; sisters, Julia Neuenfeldt, Elsie Jakes, Mildred LaBelle, Charlotte Bell and Caroline Bell; three brothers, Carl, Emil and Edward Feuerhelm. The family would like to express a special thank you to her caregivers at Stone Crest who loved her and cared for her as if she was their own. The funeral service will take place on Friday, July 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 17927 Dice Road, Hemlock. Rev. Richard E. Mundt will officiate with burial in Richland Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call at W. L. Case & Company, 201 N. Miller Road, on Wednesday from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m.; Thursday 2;00 – 9:00 p.m. and Friday at church from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service.
