Curbey, Nelson J., Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved father and grandfather passed away Friday, August 19, 2011 at his home. Age 91 years. Son of the late Nelson and Frances (Beebe) Curbey, Nelson was born April 18, 1920 in Saginaw, Michigan. He served in the United States Marine Corps during WWII. Nelson married Jacklyn M. Summerfield on January 20, 1945. She predeceased him August 2, 2011. Nelson was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. After the service he was in construction and a self-employed as a medical tool grinder. Later, he was a Project Superintendent for R.C. Hendrick for 5 years. Nelson loved to golf, enjoyed bowling, playing cards and being on the water. Surviving are one daughter and one son, Jill Curbey, Smyrna, Tennessee; Mitch Curby and his wife Deborah, White Lake, Michigan; six grandchildren, Elizabeth, Dennessa, Derika, Brady, Dustin and Tyler; four great-grandchildren and one nephew, Don Adams. Nelson was preceded in death by his twin brother, George Curbey and his sister, Sadie Adams. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 2711 Mackinaw in Saginaw. Rev. Fr. James G. Heller will officiate with Military Services conducted by V.F.W. Post #1859. Honoring Mr. Curbey’s wishes, cremation will follow. There will be no visiting hours at the funeral home. Friends may call at St. Stephen Catholic Church where the family will be present on Tuesday from noon until time of Mass.
