Couture, Betty Joyce, Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Friday, April 29, 2011 at her home. Age 84 years. Daughter of the late Henry and Lucille (Chartrand) Hubley, Betty was born October 9, 1926 in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. She was married to John Carroll Couture on June 12, 1948. He predeceased her May 28, 1993. Betty was a registered nurse for Saginaw Cooperative Hospitals for 15 years retiring in 1984. She was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church, a Eucharistic Minister for Tendercare Saginaw, volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital, proud member of the Red Hat Society and charter member of Maple Hill Golf Club. She was an avid golfer, enjoyed walking and was committed to all her grandchildren’s activities. Surviving are two daughters, two sons and their spouses, Barbara and Bill Mueller, Appleton, Wisconsin; John and Sally Couture, Kalamazoo; Suzanne and Roy Hubner, Frisco, Texas; James and Dawn Couture, Saginaw; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Betty was preceded in death by her brother, Frederick Hubley. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Friday, May 6, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 2711 Mackinaw, Saginaw. Rev. Fr. James Heller will officiate with entombment in Mt. Olivet Mausoleum. Friends may call at the church where the family will be present on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the church. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association or Saginaw Area Catholic Schools.
