Corbat, William Joseph, Sanford, Michigan

William (Billy) Joseph Corbat, 47, of Sanford, passed away unexpectedly at his home early Sunday January 23, 2011. He was born on January 18, 1964 in Merrill, Michigan, the beloved son of Richard Sr. and Yvonne (Mayan) Corbat. Billy was a loving son and friend to everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed. Billy graduated from Merrill High School and later attended Ferris State University, earning a Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Medicine. Throughout his career, he was employed by MidMichigan Medical Center, Ortho-McNeil, and Source One Medical. During his life, he was very involved in 4-H and the Midland County Fair. Billy was an active member of Saint Agnes Catholic Church where he played the piano and organ, as well as singing in the choir. He was an incredibly talented and loving man, always willing to lend a caring hand. He enjoyed all holidays, preparing his home to welcome all seasons, and entertaining all who came to his door. Billy was truly passionate about his faith and his family. Surviving in addition to his parents, are brothers Richard D. (Sharlyn) Corbat Jr., Gregory A. (JoAnn) Corbat, and sister Mary Jo (Larry) Stark; loving nieces and nephews, Salena (Rick) Dodman, Gregory (Beth) Corbat II, Daniel Corbat, Sarah Jo (Jacob) Rowley, Dennis Stark, and Kevin Stark; great-nieces and great-nephew, Alexandra and Nicholas Dodman, Lillie and Ella Corbat; aunts and uncles, Elaine Irish, Monica Bluemer, Erma Rohde, Bernice and Lyle Tolfree, Margaret and George Glinke, Jeanne Mayan, Tom and Dorothy Mayan, Leona Osbourne, and Rita and Tom Laberteaux; confirmation sponsors, Jerry and Norma Brown, along with countless cousins and friends dear to his heart. He was predeceased by aunts and uncles, J. Patrick Osbourne, William Nohel, Elwood Rohde, Elmer Bluemer, Aarol Irish, Joseph and Agnes Corbat; grandparents, Rudolph and Mildred (Siler) Mayan and Joseph and Alma Corbat. Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday January 27, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Merrill, Michigan. Rev. Fr. James Bessert will officiate, with burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery following. Billy's family will receive friends at the W.L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 125 E. Saginaw St., Merrill, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday January 25, 2011, and then at Sacred Heart Church, 419 S. Midland St., Merrill, on Wednesday January 26, 2011, from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, followed by a Rosary led by the Fr. Neuman Council #2291, Knights of Columbus. Family and friends may then call at the church on Thursday, January 27, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
