Collier, Samuel J., Spaulding Township, Michigan

Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Friday, August 12, 2011 at his home. Age 94 years. The son of the late Robert and Barbara (Gwirtz) Collier, Sam was born November 2, 1916 in Holly, Michigan. He married Gloria Louchart, his loving wife of 46 years, on October 15, 1966. She survives him. Sam worked the family farm for many years and later worked at General Motors for 36 years until his retirement in 1981. He loved farming and taking care of his garden. Sam also enjoyed going to the ca$ino. Surviving besides his wife Gloria are his children, Terry and Linda Collier, Saginaw; Shirley and Jeff Klinert, Birch Run; Terry and Robert Raisor, Birch Run; Harold and Dawn Louchart, Bridgeport; Judy and Jack Haveman, Hemlock; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Sam was preceded in death by a grandson, Chad Collier, an adopted daughter, Barb Endstrasser, and by two sisters, Martha Hollenback and Florence Mangold. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Monday, August 15, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. John R. Johnson will officiate with burial in Spaulding Township Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours at the funeral home. Friends may call at Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church where the family will be present on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass.
