Carter, Vivian Mary (Leach), Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away Monday, October 3, 2011 at St. Mary’s of Michigan. Age 96 years. Vivian Mary Leach was born in Alicia, MI to the late Fendon E. and Martha E. (Dankert) Leach on April 7, 1915. She resided in St. Charles, MI until moving to Saginaw in her teenage years. She graduated from Arthur Hill High School, the class of 1932 and received a diploma in stenotype from Business Institute, now Davenport University. Vivian married Frederick J. Carter on September 14, 1940; he predeceased her on May 23, 2009. She loved to travel and worked with her husband in their business, Travel Coach Sales. Vivian was a member of the First United Methodist Church and its Dorcas Circle. She enjoyed music, oil painting, and crocheting. For the past three years, Mrs. Carter resided at the Masonic Pathways, Alma, in assisted living. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, John and Diane Carter, Saginaw, MI; a daughter-in-law, Margaret (David) Florip, MN; her grandchildren and their spouses, Scott and Gail Carter, Jennifer and Jon Grasso, all of Saginaw; Brian and Shannon Florip; Robin and Jessie Carlson all of Minnesota; five great grandchildren, Trenton and Jordan Grasso, Saginaw; Paige, Meghan and Chloe Florip; Eleanor Rose; Madeline Carlson all of MN; her special cousins Marilyn Gross, Yvonne Neumeyer and Lori Lane. She was predeceased by a son Clifford Alan Carter. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, October 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, 4790 Gratiot Road. Rev. Kathryn S. Snedeker will officiate with burial at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, from 2:00-8:00p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at the church, from10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
