Calley, Richard M., Alma, MI, Formerly of Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away Thursday, December 1, 2011. Age 90 years. The son of the late Earl J. and Beulah (Martin) Calley was born August 19, 1921 in Gagetown, Michigan. He resided in Detroit until moving to Saginaw thirty years ago. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII, attaining the rank of Sergeant and participating in five battle campaigns including Normandy. Richard was a member and Past Grand Worshipful Master of the Detroit Lodge # 2 F & A.M. Richard served on the Board of Directors of the Commission on Aging. Richard and Shirley enjoyed traveling and organized a Motor Home Traveling Club. They also enjoyed ball room dancing. His wife of 48 years, E. Shirley Calley predeceased him, August 29, 2011. Surviving are three sons, Grant Calley, Gerald (Elizabeth) Calley both of Phoenix, AZ; Donald (Diane) Calley, Detroit, MI; 7 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; a cousin, Lorena Johnson; several nieces and nephews. Two sisters, Ione Wood and Wilma Wright have predeceased him. The funeral service will take place on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Rev. James Neumann will officiate. Friends may call at the Chapel from 11:00 a.m. Saturday until the time of the funeral service.
