Bruce, Richard O. (Dick), Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Covenant HealthCare Harrison. Age 68 years. The son of the late Charles and Vivian (France) Bruce, Dick was born January 1, 1943 in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Kathleen Lazowski, his loving wife of 33 years, on July 21, 1978. She survives him. He owned and operated Bruce Cartege Company, which had been in the family for many years. He also owned and operated numerous trucking companies and labor leasing companies across the United States and spent his whole life in those businesses. He was a member of the 100 Club of Saginaw. Dick enjoyed cooking and woodworking. He was upbeat, made people laugh easily and everyone really enjoyed his sense of humor. He found his peace and comfort spending time with his family at their cottage on Higgins Lake. Surviving besides his wife Kathleen are two daughters, one son and their spouses, Jill and Lee Phillips, Frankfort, Illinois; Randy and Lori Bruce, Macomb; Stephanie (Scrunch) and Matt Zaremba, Northville; five grandchildren, Lindsay, Cassie, Jenna, Benjamin and Natalie (Natnie); several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Dick was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles and Eugene Bruce. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. David Parsch will officiate with burial in St. Andrew Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road, (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at Holy Spirit Catholic Church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Saginaw County Animal Shelter, Habitat for Humanity or Higgins Lake Foundation.
