Bovee, Kenneth L. and Bovee, Beatrice H., Saginaw, Michigan


Beloved parents and grandparents. Kenneth passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2011 at HealthSource Saginaw. Age 92 years. The son of the late William and Sophia (Hintz) Bovee, Ken was born May 15, 1918 in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Beatrice Karp, his loving wife of 66 years, on May 27, 1944. Beatrice passed away Friday, April 22, 2011 at HealthSource Saginaw. Age 91 years. Daughter of the late Frederick and Anna (Reetz) Karp, Beatrice was born March 19, 1920 in Saginaw, Michigan. Ken was employed as a shoe salesman at Weichmann’s and at LaPorte Shoe Store until his retirement in 1985. Beatrice was employed at the Saginaw Community Hospital for 22 years then the Saginaw Township Community Schools as a bus driver for 21 years. They were members of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church where Ken served as an usher and past school board member. They were also members of Knights of Columbus Council #4232. In 1990, Ken and Beatrice were recognized as the first “Saginawians of the Year.” Surviving are three daughters, one son and their spouses, Sandra and Tom Mannion, Hemlock; Michael and Jackie Bovee, Saginaw; Anne and Steve Aurand, Grand Rapids; Susan and Jeff Stewart, Freeland; 10 grandsons; two great-granddaughters; a sister, Edith Bullard, Thomas Twp.; many nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters, Albert, Clarence, Edward, Frank, Michael, Dolly and Esther Bovee and Helen Zuniga. Beatrice was preceded in death by her sisters, Dorothy Beyer and Esther Raskinas. A special thank you to Dr. Dominador Lynes and the staff at HeathSource Saginaw for all the love and care they had given. Funeral Liturgy will take place on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. Randy Kelly will officiate. Private interment will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Freeland, Michigan. Friends may call at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass.
