Blodgett Jr., Clarence L. (Bud), Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away peacefully Thursday, July 7, 2011, at Covenant Cooper. Age 87 years. Clarence Blodgett was born May 13, 1924, in Saginaw to the late Clarence Leslie and Edna Elizabeth (McKinney) Blodgett, Sr. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served during World War II in the Pacific theater. After the war, he married Shirley Compau on September 3, 1949, and they enjoyed 61 years of wedded bliss. She survives him. Bud was employed by Max Treu for 31 years and retired in 1986. He was a member of the American Legion Post 439, was an avid golfer, bowler, and softball player, and enjoyed his grandchildren immensely. In addition to his spouse, Clarence is survived by: two children, Michael C. (Bridget) Blodgett and Julie A. (Dan) Behmlander; three grandchildren, Briael M. (Jon) Chadwell, Ashley M. Blodgett, and Michael J. Blodgett; two sisters, Lois I. Benz, and Marilyn J. Blondin; a sister-in law, Lila J. Alpin; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Beth Anne Blodgett; a brother, Robert G. Blodgett; and three brothers-in-law, Carl E. Benz, Donald L. Alpin, and John J. Blondin. Funeral service will take place on Monday, July 11, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the W. L. Case Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road. The Reverend Charles Curtis will officiate with burial in Eastlawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Chapel on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church.
