Bhirdo, Kay Janet, Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away Saturday, December 17, 2011 at Tendercare, Frankenmuth, age 77 years. Kay was born in Saginaw, Michigan June 10, 1934 the daughter of the late Edward and Alma (Koebke) Ambs. She married William Bhirdo March 2, 1953 and he survives her. Kay worked for Federal’s Department store and as a Secretary at Buena Vista High School for several years. She served as a volunteer in the gift shop of Covenant Healthcare for many years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW Post 9809. Kay was an accomplished seamstress and enjoyed knitting. She also crocheted many lap blankets for the Veterans Hospital. She loved tending her flower gardens. She and William were crafters and they exhibited their crafts at shows around the state for many years. She loved dancing and she and William made a very nice couple on the dance floor. In addition to her husband, Kay is survived by five children, Rick (Mary) Bhirdo, Lyn (Tom) Wise, Lori (Dennis) Weiss, Dan Bhirdo and Lisa (Steve) Avery; 12 grandchildren, Melanie (Shawn) Wise-Allen, Mandi (Matthew) Wise-Powell, Marci (Matthew) Wise-Shorkey, Michael (Jennifer) Weiss, Heather and Matthew Weiss, Joshua, Kevin and Jason Bhirdo, Chelsea, Cassidea and Cameron Avery; 10 great-grandchildren; a brother Edward (Marcia) Ambs; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Karen Ambs. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at noon at W. L. Case & Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Friends may visit with the family at the chapel Wednesday from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 -8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until time of the service.
