Benson, Kenneth A., Rio Rancho, NM, Formerly of Saginaw and Bay City, Michigan

Passed away Saturday, December 17, 2011 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Age 90 years. Mr. Benson was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Rio Rancho. He is survived by his daughters, Diane G. Benson, Bay City, MI; Gwenna B. Trigg and husband Ralph, Placitas, NM; son, Joel W. Benson, Crystal Lake, IL; step children, Kenneth Lampel, Karen Lampel and Jo Ann Dey. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Kara Kochenderfer and husband, Mace; Zachary Benson; Matthew Trigg; Scott Trigg and wife Adrienne; Nicole Ferguson and husband Howard; Robyn Hall and husband Thomas; great grandchildren, Emma, Oliver, Tayler, McCarley, Hanna, Hayden, Camron, Conner and Thomas; sisters, Rose Marie Gunkel; Hazel Johnsen; Flora Chose; brother Merritt Benson and many family and friends. Mr. Benson was preceded in death by his first wife, and mother of his children, Elaine, second wife, Ruth, daughter-in-law Denise Benson; parents, George W. and Thirsa V. Benson; siblings, May, William, Ruth, Virginia and Donald. Mr. Benson served in the US Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He received his electrical school and circuitry training in the military and in 1956 earned a degree in Business Administration. He was an electrician for General Motors and retired in 1989. Kenneth was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Saginaw. The funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, December 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 5370 State St., Saginaw. Rev. Randy Kelly will officiate with Military entombment in Oakwood Mausoleum under the auspices of American Legion Post #439. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Wednesday and then at the Church from 10:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of the funeral liturgy. Kenneth loved his time in New Mexico where he enjoyed the mountains, sunsets and time with family and friends.
