Barton, Mary Elizabeth, Saginaw, Michigan, Formerly of Bad Axe, MI

Beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt passed away Monday, January 10, 2011, at Covenant – Cooper after a lengthy illness. Age 65 years. Mary Elizabeth was born January 26, 1945, in Bad Axe, Michigan, the daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth (Lundy) and Arnold LeRoy Barton. She graduated from Bad Axe High School with the Class of 1963. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Saginaw Valley State University and had been employed as a social worker for the State of Michigan Family Independence Agency (now Department of Human Services). She was a woman of strong faith and was an active member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She was an avid reader, loved dogs, and especially loved her family. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law and four granddaughters, Matthew and Lisa Kraus and their daughters, Kaitlin and Mackenzie, all of Ada, Michigan; Brian and Dana Kraus and their daughters, Morgan and Sara, all of Grand Rapids, Michigan; one brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Margaret Barton, Caseville, Michigan; several nieces, nephews and their families. Another brother, Thomas Barton, predeceased her. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 13, 2011, at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1525 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw, where her family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. Thursday until the time of Mass. Private committal will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Bad Axe, Michigan.
