Baldauf, Donald Charles, Hemlock, Michigan

Passed away Sunday, September 11, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Age 61 years. He was born March 6, 1950, to the late Donald and Anna (Kapusto) Baldauf. He graduated from Hemlock High School, attended Delta College, and served with the U.S. Army. Don leaves his memory and his strength to be carried on by his pride and joy, his children: son, Sam, and daughter, Molly. He also leaves his sisters, Mary (Earl) Tack and Sally Baldauf; his aunt, Catherine (Gilbert) Spyker; brother-in-law, Robert Lindh; several special nieces, nephews and their families; and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Lindh, and by his step-son, Kyle Coman. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. He engaged in farming his whole life and was a finish carpenter. Don pitched on several men’s fast-pitch softball teams and had the honor of being inducted into the Michigan Amateur Softball Association Hall of Fame in 1997. He played pool on a traveling league, enjoyed fishing, golfing, deer hunting, and playing cards with his buddies. Most of all, he enjoyed watching his children play sports. He assisted the Hemlock High School softball program. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 16, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, where his family will receive friends from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, from 2:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, and then on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Rev. Rob Richards will officiate. Contributions may be made to the Hemlock Sports Boosters, the American Cancer Society, or to the family.
