Ames, Milton R., Bridgeport, Michigan

Passed away Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at Christian Elder Care at the age of 86 years. Milton was born March 22, 1925, in Newaygo, Michigan, to the late Warren and Trilla May (Overly) Ames. He married Arlene L. Hepinstall on September 30, 1950, and she predeceased him on September 7, 1993. He married Margaret Soldan on November 26, 1994. She survives him. Milton was a member of the Bridgeport Community Church, served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was employed by the Michigan Department of Transportation, retiring after 44 years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #258, serving in several capacities including secretary. He also was a Past Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star. Surviving besides his spouse are three children: Richard (Marie) Ames of Albion, Sharon (Delbert) Luckett of Bridgeport, and Susan Hemerline of Bridgeport; ten grandchildren: Matthew, Andrew, Jennifer Lynn, Lindsay, Delbert II, Alicia, Erica, Dustin, Sara, and Jennifer Lee; seven great-grandchildren; 2 step-children; and many nieces and nephews. Milton was predeceased by three sisters and two brothers. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at 11:00 a.m., at Bridgeport Community Church, 3821 State St., Bridgeport, MI. Rev. Terrance Dodge and Rev. Ronald Sinclair will officiate with burial in Pinegrove Cemetery in Bridgeport with military honors conducted by VFW Post #1859. Friends may call at the W. L. Case Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway, on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A Masonic service will be held at 8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Chapel under the auspices of Masonic Lodge #258.
