Zehnder, Betty L., Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved wife, mother and grandmother passed away Wednesday, February 10, 2010. Age 86 years. The daughter of the late Louis and Helen (Sladwick) Yelle, Betty was bon September 12, 1923 in Saginaw, Michigan. Betty married George Johnstone who predeceased her. She then married Charles Zehnder on February 11, 1967. He survives her. Betty was a member of West Michigan Avenue United Methodist Church. She was employed in retail sales at the Esther Shop and Amy's Dress Shop for many years. Betty and Charles also portered cars for car dealerships until a few years ago. She was an avid golfer and bowler and was active in many organizations. She was a member of the Germania Town & Country Club.  Surviving besides her husband Charles are her children, Sharon Churchfield, Grand Blanc; Connie and Richard Nowaczyk, Lovells, Michigan; Roxanne Vasey, Saginaw; Dennis and Sharon Zehnder, Saginaw; one grandson, Matt and Pam Churchfield; a great-granddaughter, Hannah Churchfield; step-grandchildren, Chris Zehnder, Tori Vasey, John Paul and Nicole Schneiderhan, Shelley Vasey, Nicole and Dr. Paul Schmidt and Stephanie Zehnder; six step- great-grandchildren; a brother, Jon E. (Barb) Olsen, Homer, Alaska; several nieces and nephews and dear friends; special recognition and thanks to Susan McInerney for her sincere friendship and devotion to Betty and the entire Zehnder family. Betty was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Larry Churchfield, one sister and one brother, Marcella Monroe and Robert Yelle.  Betty’s family extends their gratitude and appreciation to Covenant HealthCare Harrison for their warmth and loving care they provided.  Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 13, 2010 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road, (between Shattuck and McCarty). Rev. George Dorado will officiate with interment in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
