Beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away early Saturday, January 2, 2010, at Covenant – Cooper. Age 90 years. Harold “Buzz” Wilber was born November 10, 1919 in Saginaw, the son of the late Blanche M. (Bourbonnais) and James A. Wilber. His family home was on farm land which is now a part of Saginaw Valley State University. He was baptized at Holy Family Catholic Church and later transferred his membership to St. John’s Episcopal Church, where he served as a faithful usher for many years. He served with the US Army during World War II, where he was awarded four Bronze Stars. He was honored by France as being a part of the forces which liberated France from German occupation. He married Jane Louise Becker on August 1, 1947, and they enjoyed 62 years of marriage together. He was employed by Eaton Corporation for over 38 years. Surviving besides his wife Jane are his children, Dawn Lee (Ronald) Florkowski and James Manley (Betsy) Wilber; six grandchildren, Katherine Jane and Elizabeth Anne Florkowski, and Emily Louise, Sarah Jane, James Harden and Robert Alexander Wilber. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Alicerose and Russell Arch. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 123 N. Michigan Avenue. The Rev. Darren Elin and The Rev. Charles Stuart will officiate. Honorary pallbearers will be Wilber Harold Arch, James Dorrance, John T. Gilmour, and George Wilber. Private committal services will take place later in Pinegrove Cemetery, Bridgeport. His family will receive friends at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, and then at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. www.casefuneralhome.com
