Weiss, Robert Arthur, Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away Friday, January 8, 2010.  Age 82 years.  The son of the late George and Louise (Fuss) Weiss was born November 26, 1927 in the Village of Mineola, New York and grew up in Hempstead, Long Island, New York.  He served with the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean War.  He was a graduate of Alma College in 1954 and later attended Hofstra University. He married Marie Sedgwick. She predeceased him. He later married Ruth Phoenix, August 1, 1998. She survives him. He was employed by Sherman-William Corporation, serving as a store manager in Saginaw and various cities throughout Michigan and in their home office in Cleveland, Ohio. He retired with twenty-three years of service.  He later was employed by D &Y Corp. in Cleveland, Ohio.  He was a member of Warren Ave. Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder and Deacon.   He enjoyed jazz music and traveling but most of all he tried to put a smile on the face of everyone he met.  Surviving besides his wife, Ruth, are a daughter, Patti Anne Stansell, Boca Raton, FL; his stepchildren, Rick and Robin Sedgwick, Harrisville, MI; Randy and Connie Sedgwick, Grayling, MI; four grandchildren and their spouses, Tammi  and D.J. Sova; Kristi and David Weber; Zak and Angela Sedgwick; Jake and Heather Sedgwick; five great grandchildren.  In accordance with Mr. Weiss’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2010, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel 4480 Mackinaw Road. Rev. Thomas B. Cundiff will officiate.
