Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at his home. He was 95 years old. Delmer L. Stoddard was born July 22, 1915 in Saginaw to the late Morris and Katherine (Riser) Stoddard. He was married to LaVisa J. Matteson, she passed away in 1949. He then married Harriet Quackenbush, she passed away in 1968. He later married Eleanor Brooks in 1969, and she survives him. Delmer was employed by Malleable Iron retiring after 37 years of service. He loved to hunt, fish and do woodworking. He was a lifelong member of the Saginaw Gun Club and a member of the Saginaw Field and Stream. Delmer had moved to Punta Gorda, FL in 1974, returning to Saginaw in 1996. Delmer is survived by his wife: Eleanor Stoddard; two sons and a daughter: Nancy L. (Keith) Birdsall, Bruce D. (Carol) Stoddard, David M. (Gail) Stoddard; five grandchildren: Michele L. Moskal, Mark L. (Cassandra) Moskal, Bruce D. Stoddard II, Jennifer L. Stoddard and her fiancé, Chad Frasle, and Michael D. Stoddard; step grandchildren: Scott (Ann) Birdsall, Susan Birdsall and Sara Birdsall; great grandchildren: Chelsea, Madeline and Matthew Moskal, Bruce III, Danielle and Devon Stoddard and Faith Birdsall. The family wishes to extend a special thank-you to Primary Home Care and to his special caregivers: Josie, Londa, Judy and Missy; Covenant VNA Hospice; neighbors, Jerry and Dick; and a special friend, Dale Scott. Two brothers and a sister preceded Delmer in death: Walter, Morris and Mary Katherine Stoddard. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 6, 2010 at the Chapel of Roselawn Memorial Gardens, 950 N. Center Road. Rev. Paul R. Hinz will officiate with entombment to follow in Roselawn Mausoleum. The family will receive friends at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State) on Thursday, August 5, 2010 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Saginaw County Animal Shelter or a charity of the donor’s choice.
