Stark, Roma, Saginaw, Michigan, Formerly of Troy, MI

Passed away at the Hoyt Nursing Center, Saginaw Michigan, where she had been a resident since September of 2009. She received special loving care from all of the employees of the Center. Roma was 104 years of age. Roma was born February 24, 1906 in Maitland, Nodaway County, Missouri, the daughter of the late James and Clara McGinnis. She married the late Dwight J. Stark in 1932. She was a long-time member of Westminster church of Detroit, the Joanna Circle, and ChapterB of the P.E.O. She received her B. S. degree in Education from Northwest Missouri State University in 1930 and did graduate work at Michigan State University. She taught school for 40 years, retiring from the Birmingham, Michigan School District. Surviving are her sister, Alice Gray, Springfield, Mo. And a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Lu and Robert S. Gilbert, Saginaw; three grandchildren, Thomas S. Gilbert, Traverse City, Michigan; Patricia Weintraub, Scottsdale, Arizona; and Nancy Otwell, Evanston, Illinois; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 17, 2010 at Westminster Church of Detroit, 17567 Hubbell St., at the corner of W. Outer Dr., Detroit, MI 48235.
