Smith-McHenry, Gloria J. (Lagalo), Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away on Thursday, December 30, 2010, surrounded by her family at the Cartwright Hospice Residence. Age 66 years. Gloria Jean McHenry was born to the late Aaron R. and Geraldine E. (Losee) McHenry on August 2, 1944, in Midland, Michigan. She graduated from Saginaw High School in 1962. Gloria married Philip J. Lagalo on April 18, 1964, in Saginaw. He survives her. Gloria later married Martin “Bud” Smith on February 19, 1998. He also survives her. Gloria worked for Robin Glen MHC of Saginaw, MI, Pebble Creek MHC of Reese, MI, and for Saginaw Valley MHC of Saginaw, MI. as a mobile home manager. She enjoyed bingo, crocheting, knitting, going to the casino, her marble game and spending time with her grandchildren. Gloria leaves to cherish her memory two sons and two daughters: Philip J. Lagalo Jr. of Stuart, FL, Diane (Lonnie) Brown of Swartz Creek, MI, Paul (Ann) Lagalo of Freeland, MI, and Donna (Jason) Mitas of Saginaw, MI; nine grandchildren: Megan M. A. Lagalo, Philip J. Lagalo III, Ryan M. J. Lagalo, Kayla A. Lagalo, Austin A. Mitas, Skylar J. Mitas, Nicolas J. Lagalo, Vincent J. Lagalo and Thomas A. Hall; two great-granddaughters: Sidney M. and Cay Lee Moored; a sister, Karen (James) Haselbech; a stepmother, Peggy McHenry; three half sisters: Janet Rider, Judy Bishop, Sherry Brown; three half brothers: Dan McHenry, Dave McHenry, and Gary Housen; a brother-in-law, Gary (Rose) Lagalo; two sisters-law: Marie (Richard) Papasso and Carol Lagalo; three step-daughters: Linda (Jerry) Blank, Roxanne Losee, and Sandy (Rod) Smith and two step-sons, Bill Smith and Mark (Kim) Smith. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and several step grandchildren and great grandchildren. Gloria also leaves behind her special dog, Molly that she loved dearly. The Smith-Lagalo family would like to thank the staff at Covenant-Cooper C.C.U. and third floor staff, especially; Melissa, Courtney, Angel, Deb, Dan, Shelly and Larissa (from dialysis) for their wonderful care they gave to our mother during her time of need. Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, a grandson, Spenser T. Lagalo, and a brother-in-law, Clement Lagalo, a nephew, Troy Rider, a cousin, Gary Losee. Gloria's Funeral Liturgy will be take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2011 at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 300 Johnson St, Freeland, Michigan. Rev. Fr. Rick Varner will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow in Midland Memorial Gardens. Friends may celebrate Gloria’s life with her family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State) on Sunday, January 2, 2011 from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Gloria will lie in state at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
