Died Monday, May 17, 2010, at St. Mary’s of Michigan, after a lengthy illness, at the age of 70 years. He was born October 7, 1939, in Dublin, Republic of Ireland, the son of the late John and Gertrude (McEvoy) Scott. He married Caroline G. M. Wimberley on February 8, 1964 in Portsmouth, England, moving to the United States in 1966. He graduated from University College Dublin with an M.B. B.Ch. degree in 1967. He served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam from 1969 until 1971. After the service, he practiced as a family physician in Saginaw from 1971 until being forced to retire due to illness in 1992. He had been a member of the active staff at St. Mary’s, St. Luke’s and Saginaw General Hospitals. He was a member of the A.M.A., A.A.F.P. and the Saginaw County Medical Society. He was an avid golfer and long-time member of the Saginaw Country Club. Surviving are his wife, Caroline G. M. Scott, M.D.; two daughters and one son: Helen Scott, M.D. and husband Chip Richards, Grand Rapids, Michigan; Sheila Scott and husband Ago Mirza, North Potomac, Maryland, and Brendan Scott and Maggie Lamb, San Francisco, California; six grandchildren: Ian, Nuala and Claire Richards, and Ciara, Nizami and Maeve Scott Mirza; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Chris and Irene Scott, Alfie and Sheila Scott, and Frank and Rose Scott, all of Ireland; many nieces, nephews and their families; his mother-in-law, Joy Wimberley, Jersey, Channel Islands, Great Britain. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Stella Dolan, and by a brother, Dick Scott. Cremation has taken place. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2010, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 720 Tuscola St. The Rev. Judith Boli will officiate. His family will receive friends at the W. L.
