Beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Thursday, July 8, 2010 at Caretel Inns of TriCities. Age 90 years. Son of the late August and Stella (Newberry) Schauman, Raymond was born February 17, 1920 in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Edwina (Nina) Pabalis on May 12, 1945. She predeceased him April 18, 2006. Ray had been employed by Hurst Grocery for 30 years, The Bowling Bar, and Nodular Iron for 15 years retiring in 1985. He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church, president and secretary of the Saginaw Bowling Association and was inducted into the Saginaw Bowling Hall of Fame. Ray was also a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council #593, L.M. Moose Lodge #82, life member of Pulaski Club and Brothers of Koscuiszko. Surviving are two daughters, two sons and their spouses, Gloria Rae and Gary Nentwig, Saginaw; Keith and Linda Schauman, Grand Blanc; Mark and Kimberley Schauman, Folsom, California; Karen and Roger Ferguson, Grand Rapids; nine grandchildren, Lisa (Adam) Schroeder, Darcy Nentwig, Staci Colborn, Kurt (Aimee) Schauman, Bridgette (Aaron) Stallings, Paul Schauman, Courtney Schauman, Michael (Toni) Schauman, Ian Ferguson; eight great-grandchildren, Madeline and Brandon Stallings, Alex, Dawson and Emily Schauman, Ashlynn and Rece Colborn, Meredith Brown; his brother, Robert J. Schauman; a sister-in-law, Alberta Pabalis; many nieces and nephews. Raymond was preceded in death by his brother, August J. Schauman Jr. Funeral Service will take place 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 2010 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road, (between Shattuck and McCarty). Pastoral Associate Audrey Wilson will officiate with entombment in St. Andrew Mausoleum. Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 12:00 noon until time of service.
