Sargent, Harvey I. (Sarge), Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2010. Age 79 years. The son of the late Albert and Emma (Rollinger) Sargent, Sarge was born August 4, 1930 in Saginaw, Michigan. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of American Legion Post #22 and the 40 & 8. Sarge married Jacqueline Crist, his loving wife of 30 years, on January 11, 1980. She survives him. He was employed as a truck driver for Saginaw Rock for over 20 years and later retired from driving truck for several other companies. Sarge enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Surviving besides his wife Jackie are two daughters, two sons and their spouses, Denise and Dave Railling, Saginaw; Harvey Sargent, Saginaw; Greg McCallum, Grand Blanc; Star and Dan Munroe, Vassar; five grandchildren, Heather Gilbert, Megan and Patricia Railling, Amy and Matt Sargent; a brother, Donald Sargent, Vassar; a sister, Mary Lou Hoover, Vassar; several nieces and nephews. Sarge was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters, Albert, Eddie and Jack Sargent, Betty Fox and Rosemary Sargent. Honoring Mr. Sargent’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service and luncheon will take place at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 15, 2010 at American Legion Post #22, 2200 S. Niagara in Saginaw. Friends may call at the American Legion Post #22 on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to American Legion Post #22.
