Our beloved Father, Grandfather, “Super” Grandpa and friend passed away Monday, November 29, 2010. Age 94. Alf was born March 12, 1916 in Frankenmuth. After a brief employment with Saginaw Steering Gear he became a successful insurance agent for Equitable Life. He retired at age 70. He continued his love for his family, traveling and of course his golf game. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, serving on many committees and always remembering Peace Lutheran School, Lifetime member of Germania Town and Country Club. Alf was one of the 100 Rummel-Weiss cousins from Frankenmuth. Alf is survived by his three sons: A. Theodore (Terry) of Tawas City, MI, Thomas J. (Joanna) of Dayton, OH and David W. Rummel of Dallas, TX; six
grandchildren: Kara (Steve) Cahill, John T. (Sandy) Rummel, Suzanne (Joe) Routson, Joanna M. Rummel, W. Wiley Rummel and Maggie S. Rummel; and eight great grandchildren. Alf is preceded in death by his wife, Marion (Steckert), granddaughter, Krista Ann Rummel, great grandson, Brody C. Cahill; four brothers and their spouses: Eugene (Emma), Edwin (Edna), Martin (Myrtle) and Walter J. Rummel. A funeral service for Alf will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams Ave., Saginaw. Rev. Paul R. Hinz will officiate with burial to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State) on Friday, December 3, 2010 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Alf will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
