Beloved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend to many has entered the Church Triumphant on November 1, 2010 with her family at her bedside. She was born to parents Otto and Elsie (Stuenkel) Brandt on December 11, 1933; She was baptized on Christmas Eve at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Netawaka, Kansas and given “The gift of joy down in my heart”. In that much loved church she was also confirmed in 1947. She was married there also to Carlton G. Ross in 1956. Before her marriage she graduated from Clarks School of Business and worked as an Administrative Secretary to the State Superintendent of Public Instruction. After her marriage she continued classes at Kansas State University. Her husband Carlton graduated in Engineering from Kansas State and they moved to Saginaw, Michigan where Carlton was employed by Saginaw Steering Gear. He preceded her in death in 1998. They belonged to Holy Cross Lutheran Church from 1960-1992 and then to St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hemlock, MI from 1992 until death. Marilyn greatly enjoyed playing bridge and the bridge friends she made. Her hobbies included shade gardening, home decorating, reading, making LWML quilts, continuing friendships with Card Club friends and with Holy Cross Lutheran Church members. She loved keeping connected with childhood friends and relatives. She is survived by her three children, Dawn Ellen (Ross) Guju and her husband Michael of Palm Harbor, Florida; Kevin Carlton Ross and his wife, Laurel of Hemlock, MI ; Christian Eric Ross and his wife, Laurie Ann of Hemlock, MI. Also surviving are 8 grandchildren: M. Morgan and Ross Guju; Andrew, Carlton and Christopher Ross; and Elizabeth, Cassandra, and Hans Christian Ross. Sister Esther Ideker, Whiting, Kansas, brother Leslie Brandt and his wife, Jan, Holton, Kansas. Beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, and many friends. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 5, 2010, at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 2461 N. Raucholz Road, Hemlock. Rev. Martin J. Hagenow will officiate with interment following in Richland Lutheran Cemetery. Family and friends may call on the family at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, from 2:00-5:00 and 7:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday, November 4, 2010 and at the Church from 10:00 a.m. Friday until the time of the funeral service. The family wishes to thank all those who cared for Marilyn while hospitalized, and the caring Dr. Caroline Scott and staff.
