Beloved father and grandfather passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010 at his home, age 80 years.  Sam was born in Kalamazoo, Michigan July 23, 1929 the son of the late Alfred and Evelyn (Lorranger) Reid.   He graduated from Arthur Hill High School and earned his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan.  He married Theresa Banicky June 28, 1958.  She predeceased him August 26, 2004.  Sam served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.  He was employed by Michigan National Bank, engaging in many capacities, including auditing and consumer loan officer, retiring in 1992 after 34 years.  He served Arthur Hill High School, selling football and basketball tickets since 1959 and also selling football tickets for Saginaw Valley State University.  Sam is survived by his daughter, Deborah (Jeff) Simonton; two granddaughters, Mallory and Riley; a brother, Bill (Arlene) Reid; two brothers-in-law, George (Eileen) Banicky and John (Lillian) Banicky; two sisters-in-law, Helen (Elmer) Zaverton and Cappi Honderich.  The funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 25, 2010 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 6400 McCarty Road.  Rev. Fr. James Carlson will officiate with entombment in Chapel Hill Mausoleum with military services under the auspices of VFW Post No. 1859, Carrollton.  Friends may visit with the family at W. L. Case & Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Wednesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to the Saginaw Public Library.
