Passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 90 years old. Donald F. Plowdrey was born April 28, 1920 in Saginaw to Joseph and Armeda (Rose) Plowdrey. He was married to Pat (Marian) Boensch on February 13, 1954. She survives him. Don had been employed by General Motors before going to proudly serve in the Army during WWII. Upon his return home, he farmed with his family until his retirement. Don enjoyed working in the garage, making things for his family, and was an active member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, serving as an usher. Most of all, Don loved spending time with his family and friends. Don is survived by his wife, Pat (Marian) Plowdrey; seven children: Marilyn Plowdrey, John (Margaret) Plowdrey, Jim (Judy) Plowdrey, Diane (John) Faller, Bob Plowdrey, Dan (Diane) Plowdrey, and Mike (Lynette) Plowdrey; grandchildren: Alaina, Grant, Stephen, Bryan, Haleigh, Paige, Blake, Andrew and Justin; his sister, Dorothy Thomas; brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Leonard and Carol Boensch, Ray Boensch; special niece, Roseanne Sanders; many nieces and nephews and a dear friend, Neil McGuire. Don was preceded in death by three brothers: Chauncey, Thomas and Joseph Plowdrey; five sisters: Rosetta Lamblin, Alice Krzywosinski, Isabelle Walker, Lottie Stark and Beatrice Naldoski. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Don’s caregiver, Mary Jo Walker, for her loving care and support. Don’s Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 511 W. Cornell St., Zilwaukee, Rev. Fr. Ronald J. Dombrowski will officiate. Private burial and committal service will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State) on Friday, November 26, 2010 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. A Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home under the direction of Sr. Janet Pewoski. Don will lie in state at the church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
