Paveglio, Peter A., Saginaw, Michigan

Age 67, died Sunday, March 14, 2010 after a 4-year courageous battle with cancer. Pete was born to Peter and Annette (Toscana) Paveglio on July 13, 1942 in Battle Creek, MI. He graduated from St. Andrew High School in 1960, attended Indiana University on a football scholarship, and graduated from Ferris State University in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management. Pete was employed by GM Grey Iron Foundry and retired in 2000 as a superintendent after 35 years of service. He served as past Chairman of the American Foundrymen’s Society. Pete loved hunting and fishing with his sons and friends and was an enthusiastic fan of all sports, especially U of M football and MSU basketball. Above all, he loved his beloved wife, Karen, three children and grandson. Pete is survived by his wife, Karen (Schrems) Paveglio; his children: Scott Paveglio, Saginaw, Kevin Paveglio, Traverse City, Colleen Paveglio (Brian Lillie), Traverse City; his mother, Annette (Toscana) Paveglio, Saginaw; five sisters and a brother: Sister Annette Marie Paveglio, S.C., Cincinnati, OH, Michele Paveglio (Ed Hart), Saginaw, Marguerite (Ken) Eigner, Libertyville, IL, Maryann (Robert) Grnak, Saginaw, Brian Paveglio, Saginaw, and Paula (Herbert) Grunwell, Saginaw; a grandson, Brody Paveglio; eight nieces and nephews as well as seven great nieces and nephews. Pete was preceded in death by his father, Peter H. Paveglio. Pete’s Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 17, 2010 at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2445 N. Charles, Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Emmett L. Marceau will officiate. According to Pete’s wishes cremation will follow the Mass. Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State) on Tuesday, March 16, 2010 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. A vigil service honoring Pete will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, led by Joyce DeKarske. Pete will lie in state at the church on Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
