Barbara P. Frost

Our most cherished and much loved daughter, wife and mother, passed from this world and entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on Saturday, November 20, 2010, at St. Francis Home. She lived an amazing 92 years. Catherine E. was born on March 17, 1918 in Kokomo, Indiana, to the late Frederick and Bertha. As a young woman, Catherine dreamed of spreading Christ’s love as a Missionary to China. She attended the Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri, where she met the love of her life, the Rev. Earl Olsen. They were united in marriage on August 31, 1940, in Toledo, Ohio; he preceded her in death on June 27, 1984, following 44 wonderful years of marriage. The Olsen’s ministered in Detroit; Oshkosh, Wisconsin; and then returned to Michigan, ministering also in Cass City and Coleman. Catherine truly loved and cherished her family. She always supported her husband’s ministry, and was often the inspiration behind the sermon. Catherine was an extraordinary writer and editor; she took pleasure in assisting her husband with his sermons. She was also an eloquent speaker, and very active with their Sunday school program. Catherine was an exquisitely talented musician able to play the violin, piano and accordion. Surviving are two daughters: Rebecca Olsen, and Claudia Howell, both of Saginaw. She was preceded in death by a sister, Vivian Georgia. Catherine’s funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 29, 2010, at Hopevale Church, 4873 N.
