O'Connor, Robert William, Saginaw Township, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, March 23, 2010. Age 70 years. He was born September 16, 1939, in Saginaw, the son of the late Doris (Rupp) and Roland O’Connor. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School with the Class of 1957, and later received his Associates Degree from Delta College. He served with the US Navy as a navigator. He had been employed as a cost analyst and accountant with General Motors for over 35 years, and later worked as a greeter at WalMart. He was a life-long member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church and had served on its Finance Committee. He was an avid outdoorsman, and enjoyed hunting and fishing, and especially his dog, Logan. He was a devoted family man. He married Jacqueline Miller on June 5, 1965; she survives him. He also leaves two sons, Rod O’Connor and wife Traci, Saginaw; Bryan O’Connor and wife Jimmie, Fishers, Indiana; four grandchildren, Jake, Rockelle, Nicholas and Andrew; one brother, Michael and his wife Patricia O’Connor, Saginaw; two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law, James and Margaret Jorgensen, Frankenmuth; Susan Frost, Bridgeport; Nancy and James Derderian, Boise, Idaho; several nieces, nephews and their families, including a niece, Patrice Miller, who was very close to him. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by an infant sister, Kathleen; a sister-in-law and her husband, Charlene and Douglas Scott, and a brother-in-law, Donald Frost. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 808 Weiss St. Rev. Michael R. Korte will officiate. Military burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens under the auspices of the American Legion Post #439. His family will receive friends at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, and then at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
