Niven, Robert W., Villa Rica, GA, Formerly of Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010, at the Veteran’s Administration hospital in Ann Arbor. Age 63 years. The son of Norma J. (Sian) and the late Robert N. Niven was born November 28, 1946 in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Marilyn Plunkett, March 17, 2001. She survives him. He served three tours of duty with the U. S. Navy during the Vietnam War where he served as a Nuclear Power Plant operator and on several ships including the U.SS Long Beach. He was a member of the American Legion. Robert was self-employed as an Electrical Engineer, holding several Patents for his inventions. He was a collector and restorer of antique radios and was a member of the S.A.R.S. Club and a HAM radio operator. Surviving besides his wife, Marilyn, and his mother, Norma, are three children and their spouses, Bonnie and Gregg Forbes; Robert J. and Shannon Niven; Shannon C. and Brian Green; a step-son, and his wife, Jeff and Joy Ramey; four grandchildren, Caryn Nicole Cline, Rachel Helena Green, Robert Chandler Niven, Morgan Leslie Niven; two brothers, one sister and their spouses, David M. and Chantal Niven; Dennis A. and Carol Niven; Rosemary and John Golombisky; several nieces and nephews. His father, Robert, and a sister, Martha J. Fry has predeceased him. In accordance with Robert’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Old Town Christian Outreach Center, 600 Gratiot Ave. Rev. Donald Dinninger will officiate with Military Honors under the auspices of V.F.W. Post # 1859.
