Loving husband, father and grandfather passed away Sunday, March 28, 2010 at Cartwright Care Center, age 90 years. Bill was born in Saginaw, Michigan the son of Joe and Bessie (Anderson) Krajcir. He married Pauline Gaertner October 25, 1941 and she survives him. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. While serving on the USS Little, the ship was sunk by kamikaze pilots and Bill spent several hours in the water before being rescued. Bill was a member of Second Presbyterian Church for 40 years. He was a past master of the Salinas-Pioneer Lodge No. 155, F & AM. Bill was instrumental in helping to get new schools built in Saginaw Township and also helped in getting the Saginaw Township Little League started. He was the former owner of the Court Street Hardware for 10 years. He was active in golfing and bowling leagues and was a member of American Legion Post No. 439. In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his daughter, Patricia LaLonde; two grandchildren, Heather (Justin) Heidtman and Charles (Shari) LaLonde; a great-grandson, Collin Heidtman; two sisters-in-law, Donna (Robert) Gaertner-Falk and Helen Dunlap; a niece, Gail (Steve) McDonald and a nephew, Bill Gaertner. The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff at St. Francis Nursing Home and the staff at Cartwright Care Center for the loving care they showed to Bill and also to all those who helped with his care in the later years of his life. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 1, 2010 at W. L. Case & Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Rev. Robert Lakey will officiate with entombment in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with military services conducted by American Legion Post No. 439. Friends may visit with the family at the chapel Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
