Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, and brother, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 09, 2010. Burt passed away at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center at the age of 80 years. He was born October 10, 1930, in Merrill, the son of the late Wallace George and Ann Alverda (Burch) Miller. He served with the US Air Force as Staff Sergeant, during the Korean War. He married Marion E. Miller on January 10, 1956; she survives him. He retired from Dow Chemical Company in 1992, where he had been employed as a researcher for over 30 years. He was a member of Dice Wesleyan Church. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing, and also enjoyed playing card. Surviving besides his wife are one daughter, three sons and their spouses, Marylynn Meyer, Hemlock; Bob (Dannie) Hickson, Kalamazoo; Gary (Brenda) Miller, Saginaw; Mike (Barbara) Miller, Jasper, Georgia; nine grandchildren, Kelly (Steve) Glazier, Kristy (Jason) North, Brian (Christie) Meyer, Danielle Rule, Jason (Jillian) Hickson, Joel (Katie) Hickson, Adam (Kristi) Miller, Eric Miller (Megan Bollan), and Brad Miller; twelve great-grandchildren, Justin (Kailin), Jenna, Brooke, Austin, Jasmine and Montana Glazier, Alicia Meyer (Trevor Marr), Titus, Trent and Tyson North, McKenlee Rule, and Ethan Hickson; one great-great-grandson, Lincoln Marr; three sisters, Dorothy Stadler, Phyllis (Bob) Crocker, Evelyn Tilot (Frank); one brother, Lloyd (Sherry) Coleman; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Barbara (Dan) Moulton, Art (Jane) Miller, and Jim Gagnon; many nieces, nephews and their families. He was predeceased by one great-grandson, Dakota Glazier, and by several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 12, 2010, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, where his family will receive friends from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, and then on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Rev. Dale Kessler will officiate the funeral. Military honors will be under the auspices of the Birch Run V.F.W. Post #7542. Burt’s family extends their gratitude to all the staff at the Aleda E. Lutz VA Medical Center, especially nurses Ann and Jarett, the second floor Community Care unit, and service volunteers Tom and Wendy.
