Merz, George, Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away at his residence Tuesday, November 9, 2010. Age 88 years. George (Merzejevskis) Merz was born June 12, 1922, in Peterpils, Latvia, to the late Janis and Anna (Perkavics) Merzejevskis. He married Judite Lesins on April 9, 1944, and they had a son, Andris. The family immigrated to the United States in 1950, and George was thereafter employed as a truck driver for many years. He was a proud member of both the Latvian Club of Saginaw and the Teamsters Union. George enjoyed summering at his home at Long Lake in Cheboygan, Michigan. His son predeceased George in 1982 and his wife predeceased him in 2008. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday, November 15, 2010, at the W.L. Case & Company Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road. The Rev. Douglas Kahl will officiate with entombment of ashes at Oakwood Mausoleum.
