Passed away on Friday, December 17, 2010, at Calvary Hospital. He was 80 years old. Edward E. Mendoza was born on December 10, 1930, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Jose and Juvencia (Estrada) Mendoza. Eddie attended Saginaw high school and served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War. In New York, Eddie held various positions in the financial industry. He was a great Jazz aficionado and loved his New York and Michigan football and baseball teams. Surviving besides his loving wife, Natividad “Pibe”, are a daughter and two sons: Estelle (Arjan) Braamskamp, Adam Mendoza and Paul Mendoza all of New York, NY; many nieces, nephews, grand and great grandnieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters. Edward’s Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 24, 2010, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. 6th Ave. Rev. Fr. Francis Voris, OFMCap will officiate. Following Edward ’s wishes cremation will follow the service. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State) on Thursday, December 23, 2010, from 2:00 to 5:30 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A vigil service will be prayed Thursday evening at 7:30 p.m. Edward will lie in state at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Joseph Catholic Church.
