Randy passed away suddenly early Saturday, July 17, 2010, at the age of 56 years. He was born July 29, 1953, in Saginaw, graduating from Arthur Hill High School with the Class of 1971. He received his Bachelor of Science in sales and marketing from Ferris State University. Randy owned and was President of Professional Independent Medical Evaluations, Inc. in Thomas Township. He was an avid golfer and member of Maple Hill Golf Club. He was a life-member of the Shields F. O. E. Aerie #497. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying boating and fishing, and also enjoyed bowling. He was known for his sense of humor and love of his family and friends. He married Karen Carnes on October 4, 1980; she survives him, along with their son, Rick. He also leaves his sister, Kathy (Neil) Gray; father-in-law, Thomas Carnes; brother-in-law, Jim (Susan) Carnes; nieces and nephews, Gretchen (Ryan), Nicholas, Douglas, Caitlin, Miranda and Michael; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; father, Herman Megerle. He was predeceased by his mother, Ardis Megerle, and by his mother-in-law, Elizabeth “Betty” Carnes. Karen and Rick are deeply grateful to Dr. John Kemerer of Saginaw, who diagnosed Randy’s brain tumor over five years ago, referring him to the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. They are deeply grateful, also, to all of the doctors and staff there. It was through all of their incredible skill, care and kindness that Randy’s life was extended well beyond any expectations. Thanks also go to the Emergency Room doctors, nurses and staff at Covenant - Cooper, who cared for Randy and his family in his last hours. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Arrangements by W. L. Case & Company Funeral Directors. Randy’s family requests no flowers. Donations in his memory may be made to the family for an educational fund for his son, Rick.
