Meehleder, Dorothy E., Zilwaukee, Michigan

Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Monday, March 8, 2010 at her home. Age 79 years. The daughter of the late Erwin and Bertha (Goff) McKeage, Dorothy was born October 23, 1930 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married John C. Meehleder on September 17, 1949. He predeceased her February 2, 2010. Dorothy was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church, its Altar Society and the Zilwaukee Lioness Club. She enjoyed reading, dining out and traveling with friends, camping, wintering in Lake Okeechobee, Florida and especially dancing the jitterbug.  Surviving are three daughters and one son, Michael and Kathy Meehleder, Saginaw; Cathie Cantu, Coopersville, Michigan; Linda and Richard Smith, Fruitport, Michigan; Susan and Michael Maxa, Carrollton; seven grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy and Richard McKeage. Honoring Mrs. Meehleder’s wishes cremation has taken place. A Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2010 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 511 W. Cornell St., in Zilwaukee. Rev. Fr. Richard Jozwiak will officiate. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road, (between Shattuck and McCarty), where the family will be present on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at St. Matthew Catholic Church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of Mass.
