McDonnell, Edward G., Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at his home. He was 90 years of age. Edward McDonnell was born on October 21, 1919 in Hawkesbury, Ontario, Canada to the late Patrick and Lorenza McDonnell. He was married to Cecile Titley on August 10, 1948 in Canada. She survives him. Edward was a graduate of General Motors Institute of Technology and served in the Army Corps as an engineer. Edward retired as plant manager from Saginaw steering Gear in 1978 after 42 years of service. He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. Surviving besides his wife Cecile are three daughters: Michele (Larry) Lamie of Saginaw, Gail (Jim) Mooney of Valparaiso, Indiana, and Linda Brisbin of Salisbury, North Carolina; seven grand children: Bryan and Mark Thompson, Jamie, Shane and Jordan Mooney, Noah and Ivy Brisbin; three brothers: Robert (Marguerite) McDonnell of Saginaw, Lyle (Betty) McDonnell of Atlanta, Michigan, Michael (Alice) McDonnell of Silvis, Illinois; one sister, Sister Irene Mary of California; one sister-in-law, Mary Jane McDonnell; and many nieces and nephews. Edward was preceded in death by five brothers: Donald, Allen, Hazen, Patrick and Lynden McDonnell; two sisters: Marilyn Jean McDonnell and Mary Lou Nieman. Edward’s Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 10, 2010 at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1310 Malzahn. Rev. Fr. James G. Heller will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow in St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery.
