Passed away on Monday, January 18, 2010 at St. Mary’s of Michigan. He was 77 years old. Paul Marschner was born February 4, 1932 in Mt. Olive, IL to the late Paul and Frieda (Henke) Marschner. He married Marion Tepper on December 21, 1953 in Berlin, Germany. She survives him. Paul proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, and then joined the American Legion. He worked for the F.A.A. as an Air Traffic Controller. Paul was of the Lutheran Faith and his love of the Lord showed through him for his love of children. Paul enjoyed being a bright light at Christmas as he was, “The Best Santa.” He also enjoyed woodcarving, and feeding the squirrels and birds in his yard.  Paul is survived by his wife, Marion; a brother, Arno (Kathleen) Marschner of Denver, CO.; many family in Germany, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends; Dorothy (Ralph) Mahl, Jennifer Davison, Jeff and Mike Davison, John D. John and Elda Prueter. He was preceded in death by his son, Paul Marschner in 1992.  In accordance to Paul’s wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 22, 2010 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State). Rev. Paul R. Hinz will officiate. The family will be present at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service to visit with friends.  In keeping with the spirit of Christmas the Marschner family would like for you to consider memorial donations to Toys for Tots.
