Lorentzen, Robert Brent, Sparks, NV

Passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2010 following a courageous battle with cancer. Age 61 years. Rob was born January 11, 1946 in Bad Axe, Michigan the son of the late Paul and Lois Lorena (Smith) Lorentzen and grew up in Elkton, MI; Rob attended Laker High School and graduated a with the Class of 1967 from Augusta Military Academy in Virginia. He attended Michigan State University and Central Michigan University where he graduated with a teaching degree in Industrial Arts. Rob taught Wood Shop in Baldwin and Merrill, Michigan before pursuing his passion for woodworking in Foster City, CA. He established Wooden-It in Truckee, CA. then moving to Reno, NV area expanding his business to Wooden-It of Nevada-Fine Crafted Wood Products. Rob was an extremely generous individual, helping others in need, taking in strangers, providing friends with hand crafted wood items for special occasions. The beautiful area around Lake Tahoe provided Rob with the opportunity to fulfill his goal of both water and snow skiing in the same day. Rob continued to help others to the very end and provided wit and a dry sense of humor. Surviving are two brothers and their wives, Rick and Kathy Lorentzen, Thomas Twp, MI; John and Kathy Lorentzen, Chesaning, MI; four nephews, Jason Lorentzen; Allan and Kelly Lorentzen; Fr. Christopher Coman; Michael Coman. Rob’s Michigan family and friends will gather for a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. Monday, August 9, 2010, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 201 N.
