Passed away Friday, July 16, 2010, age 87 years. The son of the late George and Lena (Morse) Lockwood was born September 29, 1922, in Caro, Michigan. He married Betty Vetengle, January 24, 1944. She predeceased him after 63 wonderful years of marriage. He served with the U. S. Marine Corp during WWII, serving in the Solomon Islands from March 10, 1943-December 9, 1943, as a Technical Sergeant. He was employed by Michigan Bell Telephone as a cable splicer, retiring after more than 30 years of service. He was a former member of Second Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon. He loved the outdoors especially fishing, camping and gardening. Surviving are two sons, two daughters and their spouses, James and Pam Lockwood, Carrollton, MI; Thomas and Dana Lockwood, Hemlock, MI; Nancy and Dean Puller, Orlando, FL; Julie and Chip Francke, Spring Lake, MI; seven grandchildren, Kimberly, Doug, Amy, Christy, Austin, Joseph and Benjamin; one great grandchild, Vanessa; a sister and brother-in-law, Sharon Minar and Ron Minar and brother, Morris Lockwood. He was preceded in death by his parents. In accordance with Mr. Lockwood's wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2010 at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. Military will be under the auspices of American Legion #439. A visitation for friends and family will be held on Thursday, July 22 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Friends may call at the Chapel at 9:00 a.m. Friday until the time of the memorial service.
