He preceded her in death on August 10, 1996. Geni was a good wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She started out life by becoming a hairdresser. Geni was a staunch Catholic; she took her faith very serious. She was a member of St. Mary Cathedral for over 70 years, where she served as President of the Altar Society. Most recently Geni attended Holy Spirit Catholic Church. She lived at South Colony Apartments for 30 years; she loved her time there and truly loved the people. Geni loved playing the piano (something she had done since she was five), family gatherings, playing bingo and cards. She was very thoughtful and giving to everyone around her, including many charities. Surviving are her children Robert (Edythe) Lamont, James (Ruth) Lamont and Leona M. Doerr; a daughter-in-law Rosemary (Hemstreet) Lamont; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren and seven great great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Geni was predeceased by two sons; Charles (Marilyn Gunther) Lamont, Richard Lamont; a son-in-law Fredrick S. Doerr; two sisters; Leona DeWaele and Matilda (Anthony) Kolleth; a brother Carl (Lottie) DeWaele. Also many other members of her and her husband’s immediate family, as well as many friends. We celebrate Geni’s life. She lived a long and exciting one, filled with much joy, which compensated for the sorrows that came her way.
