Passed away Friday, October 8, 2010 at her home at the age of 74 years. Maria Guadalupe Aguilera was born May 19, 1936 in Villa De Cos, Zacatecas, Mexico. She married Darwin Karp on October 14, 1964; he predeceased her October 28, 1993. She was employed by Bridgeport Schools in the Bilingual Program. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church where she was very active. Surviving are three sons, Dan Karp and his wife, Christine, Bridgeport; Michael Karp, Texas; Robert Karp, Bridgeport; seven grandchildren, Katelyn, Justin, Joshua, Ashley, Amy, Shannon and Brian; a great-granddaughter Takarah; two brothers, Eustacio and Felipe, both of Mexico; many nieces and nephews including her special niece, Martha Aguilera; two sisters-in-law, Bonnie Olson and Janet Karp. She was predeceased by three sisters and one brother, Delfina, Magdalena, Maria Del Refugio, and Lorenzo. The family would like to express their gratitude to VNA Hospice, Martha Aguilera, Ruth Adams, Francisco Munoz, Gloria Leonard, Lupe Jaramillo, Berta Menchaca, Carol and Kelvin Karp, and all her special friends for their help and support. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. 3680 S. Washington Ave. Rev. Tom Schmied will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway, from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Monday where a prayer service will take place at 8:00 p.m. They may then call at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral liturgy.
