Kahl, Betty F., Saginaw, Michigan

Passed away Sunday, October 10, 2010, at Covenant-Harrison. Age 93 years. The daughter of the late Arthur and Olga (Zeman) Heyn was born October 9, 1917 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Alfred G. Kahl, July 20, 1943. He passed away in July of 2002. She received her Masters Degree from the University of Toledo in Library Science and was employed as a Librarian with the Toledo Public Libraries. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Toledo, Ohio, where she led Bible study and organized the church Library. She and her two boys delivered the Toledo Blade for sixteen years. She loved to dance in her early years and was the caregiver for her mother, Nani Heyn, her sister-in-law Louetta Julius and her husband Alfred until their death. Betty made delicious Lebkuchen, Springerlies and cut-out cookies at Christmas. Surviving are two sons and their wives, Allan and Monica Kahl, Neenah, WI; Rev. Douglas and Jean Kahl, Bay City, MI; 9 grandchildren and their spouses, Rob and Angela Kahl; Kathy and Scott VanZeeland; Lynne and Todd Krueger; Michael and Tabetha Downs; Susan and Christopher Chandre; Sarah Downs; Carolyn Kahl and her fiancé, Jason Hardy; Brian and Kristine Kahl; Mike and Melanie Kahl; 13 great grandchildren, Coltin and Taytum Kahl, Caleb and Grant Murray; Amanda and Samantha VanZeeland; Tia Krueger; Gregory, Gavin and Carter Downs; Aiden and Emma Chandre; Michael Ronald Kahl; two sisters, Dr. Ruth Heyn, Ann Arbor, MI; Carol and John Savage, Manchester, MI; several nieces and nephews. Two great grandchildren, Coy Downs and Kellan Downs and a brother predeceased her. The funeral service will take place at noon Saturday, October 16, 2010, at the W.L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Rev. Andreas Teich will officiate. Friends may visit with the family Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in Toledo Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m. Monday.
