Kabat, Jean A., Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved mother and grandmother passed away Friday, January 29, 2010 at Covenant Health Care Cooper. Age 93 years. The daughter of the late George and Leona (Bohn) Lenk, Jean was born March 26, 1916 in Vienna Township, Michigan. She married Jack J. Kabat on June 20, 1936. He predeceased her January 5, 2005. Jean loved poetry, quilting and arguing politics and provided her family with a lifetime of enduring memories. She often proudly told the story of winning the state basketball championship as a player for Ames Methodist Church for the City of Saginaw.  Surviving are five daughters and their spouses, Josephine (Jerry) Seemann, Saginaw; Barbara (Ken) Kendall, Freeland; Frankie Kabat, Saginaw; Jennean Kabat and Daniel Snyder, Saginaw; Denise (Michael) Earl, Waterford; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Vesterfelt and Frances Muehlenbeck; several nieces and nephews. Jean was preceded in death by her son, David Kabat, a daughter-in-law, Diane Kabat, three brothers and three sisters, Morris, John and George Lenk, Ida Pegley, Lucille Henderson and Eleanor Wolfe.  Jean’s family wishes to express extreme gratitude to Community Village for their loving care.  Funeral service will take place at 12:00 noon Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road., (between Shattuck and McCarty). Officiating will be James Baird. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Cemetery in Freeland, Michigan. Friends may call at the funeral home where the family will be present on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.
