Loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Sunday, November 7, 2010 at St. Francis Home. Age 93 years. Daughter of the late Stanley and Katrina (Zabajewski) Pahota, Pauline was born January 7, 1917 in St. Charles, Michigan. She was married to Burt A. Hurst on September 4, 1937. He predeceased her February 11, 1979. Pauline was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church and League of Catholic Women. She enjoyed gardening, walking, reading, playing cards, baking and especially her family. Surviving are three daughters, two sons and their spouses, Donald and Patricia Hurst, Farmington; Judith Hurst, Saginaw; Sally and Ronald Szewczyk, Prudenville; Patricia and Larry Fehn, Hemlock; Thomas and Ruth Hurst, Saginaw; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandsons and two angels on the way; one brother, Stanley Pahota, Saginaw; a sister-in-law, Virginia and David Greason, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. Pauline was preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law, Dorothy and Donald Slominski; one brother and four sisters, William Pahota, Amelia Cebulak, Emily Meyers, Gladys Webb and Eugenia Pelish. The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. John Johnson and the nurses and staff at St. Francis Home. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at St. Stephen Catholic Church. Rev. Fr. William Taylor will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Road (between Shattuck and McCarty) where the family will be present on Monday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at St. Stephen Catholic Church on Tuesday from 12:30 p.m. until time of Mass. A Vigil Service, led by Pastoral Associate Audrey A. Wilson, will take place at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Francis Home, St. Stephen Catholic Church or St. Jude’s Children’ s Hospital.
