Our grandmother, Viola Hartstein, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, June 27, 2010, at St. Mary’s of Michigan. Age 100 years. Viola Edna Zieroff was born May 28, 1910 in Saginaw, the daughter of the late Joseph Thomas and Edna Bell (Rhode) Zieroff. She was a member of Ames United Methodist Church for many years, and loved to crochet. She married Willliam L. Reese Sr., in 1928. They had three children: William L. Reese Jr., Betty A. Railling and Mildred E. Konecny. She later married Helmuth Hartstein on October 17, 1953. All have preceded her in death. She had 17 grandchildren. Surviving grandchildren are Linda Benavidez, Carol Vecchitto, Gena Atkins, James Railling, Jr., Debra Akright, Larry Railling, Dennis Railling, Shelley Beaver, Corey Railling, Francis Konecny, Jr., Nancy Sewell, Karen Partlow, Michael Konecny, and Bonnie Ryder; also 41 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; two half-sisters, Louella Dauer and Virginia Plotkin; several nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by three grandchildren, William L. Reese III, Rob Railling, and Betty Ann Konecny, one great-grandchild, and by four brothers and three sisters. A funeral service to celebrate her life will take place at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 2010, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, where her family will receive friends from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rev. Mark A.
